Ali Shojaie, professor of biostatistics and adjunct professor of statistics at the University of Washington has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), in recognition of his substantial contributions to statistical research.

Patrick Heagerty, professor of biostatistics at the University of Washington in the School of Public Health has joined the editorial staff of the Journal of American Medicine Association (JAMA) as a statistical editor.
